Application

Levamisole is a white to light yellow crystalline powder, odorless and bitter. Melting point 227-229℃. It is easily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol and glycerol, slightly soluble in chloroform and ether; insoluble in acetone. It is stable under acidic conditions and easily decomposes and loses efficacy under alkaline conditions.

This product is an anthelmintic. The activity of levamisole is about twice that of the racemate, and its toxicity and side effects are also low. Levamisole can paralyze the muscles of roundworms and then be excreted from the body with feces. It is mainly used to fight roundworms and hookworms.
